Lionel Franklin


Lionel Franklin was born in New Orleans, LA and reared in Donaldsonville, LA. His love of sports began in Donaldsonville where at an early age he participated in many youth sports. Upon enrollment in Donaldsonville High School, Lionel participated in football, baseball and track and field. As a manager for the basketball team, he recorded basketball games on the schools’ video recorder, thus making it his first job in sports media. In 1998 he matriculated at Southern University where he majored in marketing and followed sports fanatically. On a happenstance chance, while filling in for a sports talk radio show host, Lionel was offered his own radio program because of his extensive knowledge of Southern university and the Southwestern Athletic Conference. From that invitation, “The Jaguar Show”, which is a seasonal radio show focusing on Southern University, the SWAC, and fall sports, and “The Bouncing Ball Radio Show” have been borne. Among his many titles such as producer, marketing rep, and radio personality, Lionel is also the father of two beautiful children Kai and Zavier Franklin. His show, Bouncing Ball Radio, airs every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Beginning in late August annually, he also host The Jaguar Show which also airs Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
