Experience a Love Like Never Before!!!

Text: 1 John 3:1-3

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. (NKJV)

There was a young man many years ago whose name is Larry, Larry was born into this family. This family was considered to be dysfunctional. The father did not desire to have any children and left him and his mother, while the mother was a drug addict and she was not able to care for him properly, so at a very young age Larry found himself in an orphanage. He spent many years there learning to fight for himself, while all along he was being reminded that he was from trash and that at his age no one would desire to adopt him.

Every day he would watch as couples come by and adopt many of the children there to be in their families and they would just pass him by. While being looked over day after day Larry began to get into major trouble with law enforcement and after a while ha had what they call a rap sheet. By now he was sure that no one wanted him, but this one cold wet February morning a stranger (John) just happen to come by the home, and visited with all the children and for some reason John took time out to talk to Larry. Larry was so convinced nobody wanted him that he sold himself short in his visit with John and told him about all the trouble he had been in and that he was just waiting until his 18th birthday so he can leave that place and sell his smack so he can get the real bucks.

Then following day Larry’s counselor came in to tell him that he was going away for a few days. Larry begins to think within him, lord what have I done now. So the next day a vehicle came to pick him up and he found himself at John’s home who had came and visited with him. John invited Larry to take a seat and to make himself at home. Larry knew that he was going to be there for only a few of days, so he thought, “ better make the best of it and get all I can while I’m here”. Larry would steal from John, and John would only put him in time out, and would give him the amount in which he had stolen.

This went on for a few days and Larry would only wonder within himself, “Why hasn’t John call the police”. This man must be tripping he keep saying I forgive you.

Then after three days Larry receives a phone call to come to the hospital for John was very ill. While they’re at the hospital he was able to see John, and it did not look too good. John told him to go home and to look in the safe and he needed him to get some information that was in the safe. Larry did as he was asked, and when he open the safe he saw an envelope with his name on it, so he open it and inside of the envelope he found some papers. There were three sets of papers. First one read I LOVE YOU. The second one read, YOU HAVE BEEN ADOPTED, and the third one read. I GIVE TO YOU ALL MY ASSETS.  The phone ringed and the voice on the line said, Larry your Father has just passed.

(A): Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us: Here we are encourage to strongly consider what kind of Love the Father God has Given to each and everyone of us. I will list a few adjectives but this list will in no way begin to tap into Gods’ Love.

  1. Its is Great  (2) Its is wonderful  (3) Its is Marvelous  (4) It is Precious  (5) Its is forgiving  (6) It is unconditional  (7) It is Unlimited  (8) it is everlasting  (9) It is not Judgmental  (10) It is trustworthy  (11) Its is transforming  (12) It is unchangeable (13) Its is Tender  (14) It is Compassionate ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  2. This kind of Love can only come from the Father. God the Father is the source of Love (1 John 4:8-10, for God is love.  In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us. (NKJV) ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  3. God the Father has eagerly given His Love to us without we having to do anything for it; it is a gift from him. (Deu.7:7-15; Rom. 5:6-8)  ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  4. It is an honor as well as a privilege to experience Gods’ Love. (Ps. 40:8; Hab. 3:16-19 Luke 10:17). ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

(B) That we should be called children of God: The first thing I notice is that Gods’ Love has some major power. Notice Gods’ Love has the power to call (Rom 4:17,God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did; NKJV). ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. The Power that is in the Love of the father is that we are no longer Children of the World (1st John 1:15b Eph. 5:8; 1st Peter 2:9-10:  But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy (NKJV) ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  2.   Gods’ Powerful Love no longer calls you an outcast, but it has reached out and called you into His family. As Jesus called forth Lazarus from the dead so has the Power of God’s love called you Sons and Daughters (John 1:12; Rom. 8:14-17). ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  3. This invitation is given to all who will Listen (John 1:12; John 3:16; Matt. 11:28-30; Rev.3:20; 22:12-17) ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

(C) Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

We should always bear in mind that a lot of times it is not as much as we are leaving people behind, but they are leaving us. For they no longer can be in our presence for God dwells in us and His presence is in us. (John 14:17;26-29; 15:16-25) You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.   These things I command you, that you love one another.  The World’s Hatred  “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you’ (John 16-19 NKJV). ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

SO DON’T CONCERN YORSELF WITH HOW THE WORLD SEES YOU ONLY DESIRE TO PLEASE THE FATHER.

 (D) Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

(1) God has called us into his family that we may be in His Image (Gen. 1:26; Rom. 8:29, 2nd Cor. 3:18; Eph.1:5;11; Phil. 3:21; 2nd Peter 1:4) Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.  (Rom 8:29-30 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. NKJV ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

 (E) And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure

(1) Gods has given us a hope which is able to cleanse our heart and this hope prepares us to meet with him.
